At Remembird Limited ("Remembird", "we", "us", or "our"), a company registered in England and Wales, we understand that you are entrusting us with some of your most precious memories and personal stories. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, protect, and share your information when you use our legacy preservation application. We are committed to protecting your privacy and giving you control over your personal data.
1. Information We Collect
1.1 Account Information
When you create an account using Apple Sign In, we collect:
- Your Apple ID identifier (a unique, anonymous identifier)
- Your name (as provided by Apple or entered by you)
- Your email address (if shared via Apple Sign In)
- Account creation date and last login information
1.2 Voice and Audio Data
Important: Voice recordings contain highly personal content. We process this data with the utmost care and security.
When you record stories, we collect:
- Audio recordings of your voice and stories
- Transcriptions of your recordings
- Duration and timestamps of recordings
- Audio samples used for voice cloning (with your explicit consent)
1.3 Story and Memory Content
The content you share includes:
- Personal stories, memories, and life experiences
- Names of people mentioned in your stories
- Places, dates, and events referenced
- Themes, emotions, and wisdom extracted from your narratives
- Photos you choose to share for memory prompts
1.4 AI Persona Data
To create your digital legacy, we build an AI representation that includes:
- Personality traits derived from your stories
- Core values and life themes
- Relationship information and family connections
- Speaking style and communication patterns
- Accumulated wisdom and life lessons
1.5 Device and Usage Information
- Device type, operating system, and app version
- App usage patterns and feature interactions
- Notification preferences and settings
- Crash reports and performance data

3. Third-Party Services and Data Sharing
3.1 OpenAI
We use OpenAI's services for:
- Audio transcription (converting your voice recordings to text)
- Story analysis and metadata extraction
- AI persona generation and conversational responses
- Photo analysis for memory prompts (using GPT-4 Vision)
Your data sent to OpenAI is processed according to their Privacy Policy. We use OpenAI's API with data protection settings enabled.
3.2 ElevenLabs
If you consent to voice cloning, we use ElevenLabs to:
- Train a personalized voice model using your audio recordings
- Generate speech in your cloned voice for the "Ask Your Legacy" feature
Voice data sent to ElevenLabs is processed according to their Privacy Policy. You can opt out of voice cloning at any time in your settings.
3.3 Data We Never Sell
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information, stories, voice recordings, or any data to third parties for marketing or advertising purposes.
4. Data Storage and Security
4.1 Storage
- Your data is stored on secure, encrypted servers
- Local data on your device is stored using secure storage mechanisms
- Audio files are encrypted both in transit and at rest
- Database backups are encrypted and securely maintained
4.2 Security Measures
- Industry-standard encryption (TLS 1.3) for all data transmission
- Secure authentication via Apple Sign In
- Regular security audits and vulnerability assessments
- Access controls limiting employee access to user data
- Secure session management with encrypted tokens
5. Your Rights and Choices
5.1 Access and Portability
You have the right to:
- Access all personal data we hold about you
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format
- View and review your stories and AI persona
5.2 Deletion
You can request deletion of:
- Individual stories and recordings
- Your entire account and all associated data
- Voice cloning data and trained voice models
Upon account deletion, we will delete your data from our active systems within 30 days. Some data may be retained in encrypted backups for up to 90 days for legal and operational purposes.
5.3 Voice Cloning Consent
- Voice cloning is strictly opt-in and requires explicit consent
- You can revoke consent and delete your voice model at any time
- Revoking consent will disable the voice playback feature in "Ask Your Legacy"
5.4 Notifications
You can control notification preferences in your device settings and within the app.
6. Children's Privacy
Remembird is not intended for children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete that information promptly.
7. Subscription and Payment Information
When you subscribe to Remembird:
- Payment processing is handled entirely by Apple through the App Store
- We do not store or have access to your payment card information
- Subscription status and purchase history are managed by Apple
- We receive only confirmation of your subscription status
8. Data Retention
- Active accounts: Data is retained as long as your account is active
- Deleted accounts: Data is purged within 30 days of deletion request
- Backup retention: Encrypted backups may persist for up to 90 days
- Legal obligations: Some data may be retained longer if required by law
9. International Data Transfers
Your data may be processed in countries outside your residence. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including:
- Standard contractual clauses with service providers
- Data processing agreements with third-party services
- Compliance with applicable data protection regulations
10. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
California residents have additional rights including:
- Right to know what personal information is collected
- Right to know whether personal information is sold or disclosed
- Right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell data)
